A survey by the Katadata Insight Center (KIC) and Kredivo reveals that using paylater for e-commerce transactions has become a trend among consumers.

According to the survey, the majority, or 58% of respondents, use paylater to purchase urgent needs. Furthermore, 52% cited shopping with short-term installments (less than a year), and 45% wanted to take advantage of more attractive promotions.

Another 36% of respondents aimed to limit and manage their monthly expenses, while 26% wanted to buy non-essential items.

Additionally, 5% of respondents used paylater simply to try it out, while 1% cited other reasons.

The KIC and Kredivo survey also found that the majority, or 56%, of e-commerce consumers have been using paylater for more than a year. This indicates that the use of paylater is becoming increasingly popular in Indonesia.

The survey shows that paylater ranks third in usage among Indonesian e-commerce payment methods, after e-wallets and bank transfers/virtual accounts.

This survey was conducted online in March 2022, involving 3,500 Kredivo users across Indonesia who made transactions on Blibli.com, Bukalapak, JD.ID, Lazada, and Tokopedia.
