Indonesia's Internet Penetration Ranked 7th in Southeast Asia

Based on data from Internet World Stats, internet penetration in Indonesia reached 76.8% as of June 2021. This means the number of internet users domestically reached 212.35 million people out of an estimated population of 276.36 million.

Indonesia's internet penetration ranked seventh in Southeast Asia. Indonesia's position is between Vietnam and Cambodia, whose internet penetration rates were 77.4% and 73.4%, respectively.

Brunei Darussalam recorded the highest internet penetration rate in the region at 104.5%. Malaysia was second with 89% internet penetration.

Following this are Singapore with 87.7% internet penetration. Then, internet penetration in Thailand and the Philippines was 83.6% and 81.9%, respectively.

Laos and Myanmar were below Cambodia with internet penetration rates of 52.1%. Meanwhile, internet penetration in Timor Leste was recorded at 38.3%.

Furthermore, internet penetration in Asia was estimated at 64.1% in June 2021. This figure is below the global internet penetration rate, which reached 65.95%.
