Top 10 Countries with the Most Data Breaches in Q2 2022, Including Indonesia

Indonesia ranks among the top 10 countries with the highest number of data breaches on the internet. According to data from cybersecurity firm Surfshark, 1.04 million accounts experienced data breaches in Indonesia during the second quarter of 2022.

This number places Indonesia 8th globally in terms of the number of cyberattacks. In Southeast Asia, Indonesia ranks first.

Data breaches in Indonesia during the second quarter of 2022 surged by 143% compared to the first quarter of 2022 (quarter-to-quarter/qtq). Since 2004, 120.9 million user accounts have been compromised in the country.

Meanwhile, the country with the most data breaches globally is Russia, with 28.8 million accounts experiencing data breaches in the second quarter of 2022.

Globally, accounts experiencing data breaches in the second quarter of 2022 jumped 2% (qtq) to 459 accounts compromised per minute, compared to 450 accounts per minute in the previous quarter.
