Telkomsel Data Traffic Grew 110 Percent in 2015

PT Telekomunikasi Seluler (Telkomsel)'s data traffic volume in 2015 reached 492,245 Terabytes, a surge of 109.59 percent compared to the previous year. From 2011 to 2015, the average annual increase was 111.33 percent. The highest increase occurred in 2014, reaching 142.92 percent compared to 2013.

Throughout 2011-2015, Telkomsel's data traffic growth consistently exceeded 80 percent per year. Revenue from data traffic for Indonesia's largest mobile operator grew by 43.95 percent in 2015, significantly higher than the 10 percent growth in voice revenue.

The increase in smartphone users and ever-increasing speeds have led to significantly greater mobile data usage. The emergence of Generation Z (Gen Z), who are digital natives, has fueled rapid data traffic growth. Smartphones are now inseparable from their daily lives. From waking up in the morning until going to bed at night, they continuously use data services, both for communication and status updates.
