Google: Indonesia's Internet Users Grow Fastest in the World

Indonesia is recorded as the country with the fastest internet user growth in the world. Research conducted by Google and Temasek, for the period 2015-2020, projects an average annual growth rate (CAGR) for Indonesia of 19 percent. In other Southeast Asian (ASEAN) countries, relatively high internet user growth occurred in Vietnam and the Philippines, at 13 percent and 11 percent respectively.

Google's research shows that internet users in Southeast Asia currently reach 260 million. This is the fourth largest market in the world. Every month, internet users increase by 3.8 million, and this will connect 700 million devices, both smartphones and PCs (personal computers).

At this stage, the ASEAN digital economy can be said to be taking off. Internet users will continue to double and the digital market will continue to grow. With a CAGR of 14 percent per year, by 2020 internet users in ASEAN will reach 480 million users.
