Neymar is the soccer player with the highest transfer fee in history.
According to the sports website Goal.com, the Brazilian striker had a transfer fee of €222 million when he moved from Barcelona to Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in the summer of 2017. This amount is equivalent to Rp3.71 trillion (assuming an exchange rate of Rp16,718 per euro).
Kylian Mbappé followed Neymar in the same transfer year. The French soccer player received a fee of €145 million.
PSG remains the club that has shaken the soccer world the most since they signed Neymar from Barcelona and Mbappé from Monaco.
“They remain the two most expensive players of all time, but there’s no denying that this sensational double move by PSG inflated the transfer market,” said Goal.com, as quoted from its website on Friday (4/8/2023).
Besides these two players, in third place is Joao Felix, who has a transfer fee of €126 million. Felix moved from SL Benfica to Atletico Madrid in 2019.
