Seventeen players from FC Barcelona are competing in the 2022 World Cup, making Barcelona the club with the most players in this year's tournament.
“This not only makes Barca the most represented club in the tournament, but it's also an all-time record. Never before has a single team had so many players in the World Cup,” stated Barcelona's management on their official social media account on Friday, November 18, 2022.
Since 2010, Barcelona has consistently contributed players to the World Cup. The club contributed 14 players to the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, and the same number to the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
Fifteen Barcelona players participated in the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. "That was the highest number the club had ever sent, but that record has been broken by the 17 who will play in Qatar," they stated.
In the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, Barcelona players are spread across eight national teams: Spain, France, Netherlands, Denmark, Brazil, Uruguay, Germany, and Poland.
Spain has the most Barcelona players this year, with eight: Eric Garcia, Alejandro Balde, Jordi Alba, Pedri, Gavi, Sergio Busquets, Ansu Fati, and Ferran Torres.
