More than Half of Indonesians Plan to Watch the 2026 FIFA World Cup

More than half of the residents aged 16-74 in 30 countries plan to watch the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

This refers to an Ipsos survey, which asked about agreement with the statement "I plan to watch the 2026 FIFA World Cup".

The results showed that 59% of global respondents agreed with this statement, while 42% of respondents disagreed.

In Indonesia, those who agreed to watch the 2026 FIFA World Cup reached 64%, higher than the global average, while those who disagreed were 36%.

The percentage of Indonesians planning to watch this football tournament ranked 12th highest among the 30 countries surveyed.

The enthusiasm of Indonesians is also higher than that of the United States (US) and Canada, two of the three hosts of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The percentage of US citizens planning to watch the event is only 35%, and Canada is 33%. However, in another host country, Mexico, the percentage of those planning to watch reaches 68%.

Ipsos conducted this survey from October 24 to November 7, 2025, involving 23,642 respondents aged 16-74 in 30 countries.

The average number of respondents in each country is between 500-1,000, except for India, which is around 2,200. As for respondents from Indonesia, there are around 1,000 people aged 21-74.
