The Indonesian Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora) recorded 350 Indonesian national elite athletes from 32 sports branches in 2024.
This number comes from national, regional, and international National Sports Branch Organizations (IOCOs), and national, regional, and international National Paralympic Committees (NPCs).
Rowing contributed the most elite athletes with 34 athletes. This is followed by badminton with 32 athletes, athletics with 31 athletes, and sepak takraw with 16 athletes.
Meanwhile, the sports branches with the fewest elite athletes are modern pentathlon with only 1 athlete, and triathlon and surfing with 2 athletes each.

Kemenpora previously mapped elite athletes, including international, regional, national, and junior levels. In addition to achieving success at these levels, these athletes' track records are recorded in nationally and internationally recognized federations. Specifically for juniors, these young athletes are counted based on achievements at prestigious junior levels, such as the Youth Olympic Games.
