List of Spectator Capacities at Each Stadium in Liga 1 2022/2023, Kanjuruhan Among the Top Three

The Kanjuruhan Stadium riot tragedy in Malang, East Java, during a football match between Arema FC Malang and Persebaya Surabaya, a derby match, has left deep sorrow. The match, which ended with a 3-2 victory for Persebaya, was marred by numerous deaths and injuries due to rioting by supporters.

A total of 125 people died in the riot. This number of victims is the third highest in a football match worldwide.

First, the match tragedy at the Estadio Nacional in Lima, Peru, resulted in 328 deaths in 1964. Second, the riot at the Accra Sports Stadium in Ghana resulted in 126 deaths in 2001.

For information, Kanjuruhan Stadium is located in Kepanjen, Malang Regency, East Java. Owned by the Malang Regency local government, the stadium has a capacity of 45,000 spectators.
