Indonesia Wins Five Medals at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics

Indonesia won five medals at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. The breakdown is one gold, one silver, and three bronze medals.

One gold medal was won by the women's badminton doubles pair Greysia Polii/Apriyani Rahayu. One silver medal was won by weightlifter Eko Yuli Irawan.

The three bronze medals came from these two sports. Two medals were from weightlifting, won by Windy Cantika Aisah and Rahmat Erwin Abdullah. One bronze medal was won by men's badminton singles player Anthony Sinisuka Ginting.

Indonesia first participated in the Olympics in 1952. However, the tradition of bringing home medals began at the 1988 Seoul Olympics. A silver medal was won then by the women's archery team consisting of Lilies Handayani, Nurfitriyana Saiman, and Kusuma Wardhani.

Meanwhile, Indonesia's highest medal count was at the Sydney 2000 and Beijing 2008 Olympics, with six medals each. Specifically, one gold, three silver, and two bronze medals in 2000, and one gold, one silver, and four bronze medals in 2008.

Besides the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, Indonesia also won five medals in Barcelona, Spain in 1992. This comprised two gold, two silver, and one bronze medal.
