Qatar 2022 World Cup: Ronaldo and Portugal Thrash Switzerland 6-1, Advance to Quarter-Finals

Portugal's national team advanced to the Round of 16 of the 2022 Qatar World Cup after defeating Switzerland 6-1.

The match between Portugal and Switzerland took place at the Losail Stadium in Doha, Qatar, in the early hours of Wednesday (December 7, 2022) WIB. In the match, Selecao Das Quinas, the nickname for the Portuguese national team, scored six goals against Switzerland, whose goalkeeper was Yann Sommer.

Switzerland managed to reduce the deficit with only one goal against Portugal, whose goalkeeper was Diogo Costa.

Portugal played offensively from the start of the first half, scoring their first goal in the 17th minute through Goncalo Ramos, making the score 1-0. Pepe then doubled Portugal's lead in the 33rd minute, making the score 2-0.

In the 51st minute, Goncalo Ramos scored again against Yann Sommer, making the score 3-0. Despite their significant lead, Portugal continued their attack, adding another goal through Raphael Guerreiro in the 55th minute, making it 4-0.

Tim Nati, the nickname for the Swiss national team, finally scored a goal against Portugal in the 58th minute through Manuel Akanji. This was Switzerland's only goal of the match.

Goncalo Ramos completed a hat-trick in the match with his third goal in the 67th minute. Not content, Portugal scored again in the second minute of extra time in the second half through Rafael Leao.
