Alvara Research Center's national survey shows that the majority of Millennials (aged 20-35) enjoy playing soccer or futsal. Of 1,200 respondents, 72.9% admitted to enjoying sports. Of that number, 44.5% chose soccer as their favorite sport. Running and badminton are also popular among millennials, at 18.6% and 18.1% respectively.
This is not significantly different for Generation Z (Gen Z), those born between 1995 and 2014. Soccer is also the favorite sport of Gen Z, reaching 50.7%, followed by badminton, running, swimming, and basketball, each around 13.4%. The difference between the two generations lies in Gen Z's higher preference for sports. Meanwhile, sports like leisurely walks and table tennis have few enthusiasts in both generations.
Interestingly, based on respondents categorized by age range, the younger the respondent's birth year or age group, the higher the preference for sports. A healthy lifestyle is being promoted again, especially by young Gen Z individuals. In the national survey, 81.7% of Gen Z respondents said they enjoy playing sports.
