Argentina Wins the 2022 Qatar World Cup, Defeating France in a Penalty Shootout Drama

Argentina's national team won the World Cup after defeating France's national team in the final of the 2022 Qatar World Cup.

Both national teams played fiercely from the start of the match to win the 2022 World Cup. This was because both France and Argentina had already won two World Cup trophies. The match was very exciting, with both teams repeatedly attacking.

In the final match held at the Lusail Iconic Stadium, Doha, Qatar on Sunday (18/12/2022), Argentina's national team, "La Albiceleste," defeated France's national team, "Les Bleus," in a dramatic penalty shootout.

La Albiceleste took the lead after Lionel Messi scored a penalty in the 23rd minute following a French foul in the penalty box. In the 36th minute, Angel Di Maria doubled Argentina's lead against France, making the score 2-0.

In the second half, Kylian Mbappé reduced the deficit, scoring against Argentina in the 80th minute, making the score 2-1 for Argentina. A minute later, Mbappé scored another penalty in the 81st minute, tying the score at 2-2.

The score remained tied until the end of the second half, leading to a 2 x 15-minute extra time period. In extra time, Argentina took the lead again after Messi scored against France in the 108th minute.

In the 118th minute, Mbappé scored again against Argentina, tying the score at 3-3 until the end of the second extra time period. The 2022 Qatar World Cup final was ultimately decided by a penalty shootout after the 90-minute match ended in a 2-2 draw and extra time also ended in a 3-3 draw. In the penalty shootout, Argentina's national team won 4-2 against France's national team.

With this victory, Argentina's national team won the World Cup for the third time, in 1978, 1986, and 2022. France's national team has won twice, in 1998 and 2018.
