Indonesia Has 87 Foreign Construction Companies in 4 Provinces: Here's Their Distribution

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) recorded 87 active foreign construction service businesses (BUJKA) or foreign construction companies operating in Indonesia in 2020.

These companies are spread across four provinces: Riau Islands, DKI Jakarta, West Java, and Banten. DKI Jakarta is the province where the majority of foreign construction companies established their representative offices, with 80 companies.

Meanwhile, three foreign construction companies are located in West Java, while Banten and Riau Islands each have two foreign construction companies.

Detailed by partner country, these 87 companies represent 13 partner countries. Foreign construction companies from China are the most numerous, accounting for 32%.

By work sector, foreign construction companies are dominated by the civil construction sector, with 49 companies or 56% of the total.

This is followed by specialized construction with 20 companies (23%), and the remaining 18 companies (21%) operate in building construction.

For information, a Foreign Construction Service Business is a business entity 100% owned by foreign nationals, with equivalent construction permits in Indonesia, and is required to open a foreign representative office for marketing and administration.
