Top 10 Indonesian Provinces with the Most Construction Companies in 2023: East Java Takes the Lead

Based on data from the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS), there were 190,677 construction companies spread across various regions of Indonesia in 2023. The majority of these companies are located in East Java.

"The province with the most construction companies is East Java, with 23,624 companies," the BPS wrote in its report.

Central Java is second, with 16,092 construction companies. This is followed by Jakarta with 14,190 similar companies.

Meanwhile, the province with the lowest number of construction companies is Gorontalo, with 661 companies. This is followed by Bangka Belitung and West Sulawesi, which have 894 and 1,145 companies, respectively.

The following is a list of the 10 provinces with the most construction companies in Indonesia in 2023:

1. East Java: 23,624 companies
2. Central Java: 16,092 companies
3. Jakarta: 14,190 companies
4. West Java: 12,689 companies
5. South Sulawesi: 11,395 companies
6. North Sumatra: 8,895 companies
7. Aceh: 7,774 companies
8. West Kalimantan: 7,505 companies
9. Papua: 7,314 companies
10. Riau: 7,083 companies

BPS also noted that, based on business qualifications, the majority of construction companies in Indonesia are small-scale companies, accounting for 75.34% of the total number of companies.

Medium-scale construction companies account for 13.74%, and large-scale companies contribute 1.01%.
