Survey: Majority of Indonesian Citizens Support Electronic Ticketing Policy

National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit's new policy prohibiting manual traffic tickets and implementing electronic ticketing has received positive support from a majority of Indonesian citizens.

A recent survey by Indikator Politik Indonesia shows that a majority, or 68.5%, of respondents agree with the policy.

"The majority agree (with the electronic ticketing policy). This is a suggestion for the police institution; the Kapolri's statement has been received very positively," said Burhanuddin Muhtadi, Executive Director of Indikator Politik Indonesia, in a press conference on Sunday (November 27).

Burhanuddin stated that 21.9% of respondents disagreed with the implementation of electronic ticketing. Meanwhile, 9.6% of respondents did not know or did not answer the question.

According to Burhanuddin, the positive response to the electronic ticketing policy will increase if socialization is intensified. "If public awareness of the Kapolri's order to prohibit manual ticketing and the implementation of electronic ticketing is increased, the potential for public support will be even higher," he said.

This is because the survey also shows that 48.1% of respondents were unaware of the electronic ticketing policy.

This survey was conducted through face-to-face interviews with 1,220 people aged 17 years or older, or who were married, between October 30 and November 5, 2022. Sample selection was conducted using a multistage random sampling method with a margin of error of approximately 2.9% at a 95% confidence level.
