Household Consumption for Hotels and Restaurants Grew the Highest in Q3 2021

Based on data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), household consumption expenditure grew by 1.03% year-on-year (yoy) in the third quarter of 2021. Expenditure on hotels and restaurants recorded the highest growth, at 2.48% (yoy).

The next highest growth in household consumption expenditure was in the health and education components, at 2.44% (yoy), followed by housing and household equipment, which increased by 2.29% (yoy).

Household consumption expenditure on food and beverages (excluding restaurants) grew by 0.79% (yoy). Expenditure on other components grew by 1.48% (yoy).

Meanwhile, household consumption expenditure on clothing, footwear, and their maintenance experienced a contraction of 0.46% (yoy). Similarly, household consumption expenditure on transportation and communication contracted by 0.21% (yoy).

Indonesia's economy, measured by Gross Domestic Product (GDP) at current prices, reached Rp 4,325.4 trillion in the third quarter of 2021. Meanwhile, GDP at constant 2010 prices recorded growth of 3.5% (yoy) in the last quarter.

Sources of national growth in the third quarter of 2021 were supported by exports (1.23%). Then, the source of growth from PMTB (presumably referring to a specific economic indicator, requiring further context for precise translation) was 1.18%. Meanwhile, household consumption and other components each contributed 0.55%.
