Regional-Owned Enterprises (BUMD) operate in a wide range of business sectors. The financial services and insurance category boasts the largest asset value among all BUMD business sectors. Statistics Indonesia (BPS) recorded that the total assets of BUMD financial services and insurance companies reached Rp 810.82 trillion in 2020.

This figure contributed 85.67% to the total assets of all BUMDs, which amounted to Rp 946.35 trillion. Not only do they possess the largest assets, but the equity and net profit of BUMDs in the financial services and insurance sector also hold the highest values, reaching Rp 111.2 trillion and Rp 11.33 trillion respectively in 2020. Therefore, the largest financial contribution from BUMDs originates from this business sector.

BUMDs in the wholesale and retail trade, repair, and maintenance of automobiles and motorcycles sector had the second-largest total assets, valued at Rp 45.93 trillion. This contributed 4.85% to the total assets of all BUMDs in 2020.

Third place is occupied by BUMDs in the water supply, waste management, and recycling category, with total assets of Rp 38.64 trillion (4.08%). The real estate category ranks fourth with total assets of Rp 20.26 trillion (2.1%).

Meanwhile, the BUMD with the smallest assets in 2020 was in the health services and social activities category, with a value of Rp 694.6 million. This contributed only 0.07% to the total.
