Not Jakarta, This Province Recorded the Highest Consumer Spending Growth in 2021

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) recorded that the growth of household consumption expenditure in North Sulawesi (Sultra) was the highest nationally. Sultra's household consumption contributed 42.67% to the Regional Gross Domestic Product (PDRB) at current prices (ADHB), reaching Rp 142.6 trillion in 2021.

According to the PDRB at constant 2010 prices (ADHK), household consumption in North Sulawesi grew by 4.18% to Rp 41.69 trillion in 2021 compared to the previous year.

This figure is above the national household consumption growth, which only grew by 2.02% last year. It is also above the consumption growth of the other 33 provinces, including Jakarta.

The following are the 10 provinces that recorded the highest growth in household consumption expenditure in 2021:

1. North Sulawesi grew 4.18%
2. Jakarta grew 3.63%
3. Jambi grew 3.40%
4. Riau grew 3.20%
5. North Maluku grew 3.03%
6. North Kalimantan grew 2.98%
7. West Papua grew 2.84%
8. Bengkulu grew 2.75%
9. Central Sulawesi grew 2.71%
10. Bangka Belitung Islands grew 2.70%

The growth in household consumption is in line with the growth of the Indonesian economy, which reached 3.69% in 2021. This figure is higher than the previous year, which experienced a contraction of 2.07%.
