Jakarta, East Kalimantan, Riau Islands, and Riau Province rank highest as provinces with the highest Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) per capita in Indonesia. In 2015, these four provinces recorded GRDP per capita values exceeding Rp 100 million, significantly higher than the national average of Rp 48 million. Jakarta ranked first with Rp 194 million.
Other provinces with relatively high GRDP per capita values include North Kalimantan, Papua, and West Papua.
GRDP per capita illustrates the economic size of a region in generating added value from all economic activities. This added value encompasses a combination of people's income, including salaries, wages, land rent, and other profits, plus depreciation and taxes.
A large GRDP indicates a substantial added value from the production of all goods and services. This measure also serves as an indicator for calculating regional income, reflecting industrial activities and other activities that are the lifeblood of the economy.
