Gorontalo had the lowest Poverty Rate in Indonesia in 2021.

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reports that Gorontalo's Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) at current prices (ADHB) was Rp 43.9 trillion in 2021. This makes Gorontalo's GRDP the lowest compared to other provinces.

The economy of this province, a new province carved out of North Sulawesi, grew by 2.41% last year compared to the previous year. In terms of economic sectors, the province's GRDP was supported by the agricultural sector, which grew by 1.78%, and the wholesale and retail trade sector, which grew by 3.78%. These two sectors contributed the most to Gorontalo's GRDP.

Eastern Indonesian regions dominated the list of provinces with the smallest GRDP in 2021. Furthermore, newly established provinces such as Gorontalo, North Kalimantan, and North Maluku were also recorded as having the smallest economies last year.

For information, Indonesia's economy, based on the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) at current prices (ADHB), reached Rp 16.97 quadrillion in 2021. Meanwhile, based on the GDP at constant 2010 prices (ADHK), the GDP grew by 3.69% to Rp 11.12 quadrillion last year.
