Consumption in North Maluku and Papua Grew Positively in Q3 2021

Household consumption in North Maluku (Malut) recorded the highest increase in the Maluku and Papua regions. Malut's household expenditure component grew by 2.35% to Rp 3.68 trillion in Q3 2021 compared to Q3 2020 (year-on-year/yoy). This growth in household consumption was also higher than the national figure of 1.03% (yoy).

Meanwhile, Papua's household consumption expenditure grew by 1.72% (yoy), ranking second. This was followed by Papua's household consumption growth of 1.39% (yoy) in third place, and Maluku's household consumption growth of 0.06% (yoy) in last place.

In terms of expenditure, household consumption in Maluku contributed the most to the regional gross domestic product (PDRB), reaching 67.77%. This was followed by Malut with a household consumption contribution of 44.55% to PDRB, then Papua with 43.28% to PDRB, and West Papua with 31.18% to PDRB.

Compared to Q2 2021, Malut's household consumption expenditure component also recorded the highest growth, reaching 2.92% (quarter-to-quarter/q-to-q). This was followed by Papua with household consumption growth of 0.73% (q-to-q) and Maluku with household consumption growth of 0.03% (q-to-q). West Papua's household consumption expenditure, however, experienced a contraction of 0.59% (q-to-q).
