Despite a Price Drop, Coal Remains a Key Export Commodity for Bengkulu

Coal remains the leading export commodity for Bengkulu. According to data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), coal exports reached a value of US$81.17 million in 2020.

However, the value of coal exports in Bengkulu province decreased by 23% compared to the previous year. In 2019, the value of coal exports in Bengkulu reached US$105.36 million.

Bengkulu's second-largest export commodity is rubber, reaching US$46.77 million in 2020, down 18% compared to the previous year's US$56.99 million.

Next, Crude Palm Oil (CPO) exports reached US$17.15 million. This is a 49.7% decrease from 2019, when it reached US$34.15 million. Similarly, palm kernel shell exports decreased by 27.8%, from US$9.14 million in 2019 to US$6.60 million in 2020.

Other leading export commodities for Bengkulu include processed wood, with exports valued at US$1.02 million in 2020; coffee, with exports valued at US$0.003 million; and other commodities totaling US$1.01 million.

Overall, Bengkulu's total export value was recorded at US$153.73 million in 2020. This represents a 26.28% decrease compared to the previous year's US$208.55 million.
