The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reported that the value of imports of milk with HS code 0401 increased by 7.63% compared to the same period the previous year (year-on-year/yoy).

Acting Head of BPS, Amalia A. Widyasanti, stated that although cumulatively increasing, the trend of milk imports in July 2024 decreased.

“Milk with HS code 0401 experienced a year-on-year decrease of 48.22% (yoy). Month-to-month (mtm), it decreased by 61.58%,” said Amalia in a press conference broadcast on her YouTube channel, Thursday (August 15, 2024).

Note that HS code 0401 includes milk and milk products that are not concentrated and do not contain added sugar or artificial sweeteners.

Meanwhile, milk imports with HS code 0402 decreased by 14.37% (yoy) in January-July 2024. This HS code represents the commodity group of concentrated milk and milk products containing added sugar or other sweeteners.

Based on the country of origin, the largest supplier of milk imports to Indonesia is New Zealand, with import values reaching US$285.99 million in the January-July 2024 period.

Indonesia also imported milk from the United States (US$80.09 million), Australia (US$70.24 million), Belgium (US$20.24 million), and Malaysia (US$12.19 million).
