Indonesia's Stock Exchange (IHSG) Weakens Again, Healthcare Sector Suffers Biggest Decline (Thursday, August 31, 2023)

The Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) weakened by 13.39 points or 0.19% to 6,953.26 at the close of trading on Thursday (31/8/2023).

Amidst today's sluggish stock index, the health sector fell the most.

Based on the IDX-IC Sectoral Index, the health sector corrected by 1.66%, followed by the infrastructure sector which fell by 1.19%, and the non-primary consumer goods sector which fell by 1.08%.

Meanwhile, only two sectors strengthened today, led by the technology sector which rose 0.74%, and the financial sector which strengthened by 0.61%.

Based on RTI Business data, the frequency of stock trading on the domestic exchange today was 1.24 million transactions.

A total of 28.57 billion shares changed hands, with transaction value reaching Rp14.27 trillion.

The issuer with the code OASA became the top loser today after weakening by 13.85%, followed by MPXL and OMED which contracted by 11.76% and 10.05% respectively.

Then, today's top gainer was HOKI, which strengthened by 25.51%, followed by issuers GTBO and MOLI which strengthened by 25% and 21.94% respectively.

The majority of stock indices on today's trading closed weaker. The details are: 335 stocks weakened, 227 stocks were stagnant, and 190 stocks strengthened.

Meanwhile, Asian regional stock exchanges showed varied movements this afternoon. The Nikkei index strengthened by 0.88% to 32,619.3, the Hang Seng index weakened by 0.55% to 18,382.061, the Shanghai index weakened by 0.55% to 3,119.88, and the Straits Times index strengthened by 0.41% to 3,233.3.
