Indonesia's foreign debt increased by US$7.65 billion to US$360.53 billion by the end of October 2018. This is equivalent to Rp 5,191.66 trillion (using an exchange rate of Rp 14,400 per US dollar), compared to the end of 2017. This amount comprises US$182.2 billion (approximately Rp 2,623.64 trillion) in private debt and US$178.33 billion (equivalent to Rp 2,568.02 trillion) in government and private debt.
The value of the government's foreign debt in October of this year decreased by 1.27% compared to December 2017. Private debt, however, increased by 5.77%, resulting in a 2.17% increase in total Indonesian foreign debt compared to the end of last year.

Indonesia's foreign debt-to-Gross Domestic Product (GDP) ratio in the third quarter of 2018 reached 34.5%. This figure is up from 34.18% in the previous quarter but down from 34.75% at the end of 2017. The ratio of foreign debt to exports in the third quarter of this year was 157.82%, lower than the previous quarter's 160.6% and the end-of-2017 figure of 167.91%.
