Crude Palm Oil (CPO) price on the Rotterdam Commodity Exchange remains at US$ 965 per metric ton (Tuesday, December 27, 2022)

The price of CPO on the Rotterdam commodities exchange this morning, until 09.09 WIB (Western Indonesian Time), was US$965 per metric ton, as of Tuesday, December 27, 2022. This represents a -1.53% decrease compared to the closing price on Sunday, December 25, 2022, which was US$965 per metric ton. The expected price range for CPO on the Rotterdam commodities exchange today is US$965 - US$972.5 per metric ton.

According to investing.com, the price of CPO on the Rotterdam commodities exchange has increased by 0.52% in the past week. However, compared to the previous 30 days, the price is still down -7.66%.

Before Russia's invasion of Ukraine, the CPO price on the Rotterdam spot market was US$1,640 per ton (February 23, 2022). Following the invasion, the CPO price surged for two weeks.

Compared to the end-of-year price last year, which was US$1,305 per ton, the palm oil price has plummeted by -26.05% (Year to Date/YTD). Compared to the lowest point on June 16, 2021, the CPO price has dropped by -1.03%.

The increase in CPO prices has also impacted cooking oil prices in Indonesia. Cooking oil prices in various regions are above Rp 20,000 per liter. There were even periods of cooking oil shortages in the market.

However, over the past year, CPO prices on the Rotterdam commodities exchange have actually decreased. The previous record high reached US$2,010 per metric ton.

For the period January-December 2022, the price of CPO on the Rotterdam commodities exchange showed a downward trend, decreasing by -26.89% compared to the beginning of the year, which was at US$1,320 per metric ton.
