Composite Index Rises 0.74% to 326.71 Over the Past Week

Bank Indonesia (BI) and the Ministry of Finance's plan to continue burden-sharing in state debt financing next year to accelerate the national economic recovery from the Covid-19 pandemic has been positively received by bond market players. As a result, the Indonesia Composite Bond Index (ICBI) of the Indonesian Securities Rating Agency rose 2.4102 points (0.74%) to 326.7121 on Friday, August 27, 2021, compared to the previous week's closing.

Compared to the end of 2020, the ICBI recorded an increase of 12.4055 points or 3.95% (year-to-date/ytd) and a 30.5043-point increase or 10.3% compared to the same period last year (year-on-year/yoy).

Meanwhile, the INDOBeX Government Total Return Composite Index recorded an increase of 0.7793 points (0.77%) to 316.5103 in the past week. Similarly, the INDOBeX Corporate Total Return Bond Index rose 1.5996 points (0.45%) to 356.7639 last week.

From the stock exchange, the Jakarta Composite Index (IHSG) of the Indonesia Stock Exchange only strengthened slightly by 10.6 points (0.18%) to 6,041.37 last week.

This week, financial market players will focus on domestic inflation data, usually released by the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) at the beginning of the month. Meanwhile, from global factors, data such as China's PMI Manufacturing Index, US house sales data, and US employment data could affect global financial market movements, including Indonesia's.
