IHSG Climbs 2% Amid Prabowo-Gibran's One-Year Anniversary (Monday, October 20, 2025)

The IDX Composite Index (IHSG) strengthened by 2.19% to the level of 8,088.98 at the close of trading on Monday (October 20, 2025).

Previously, the IHSG had briefly fallen below the 8,000 level after closing lower last Friday (October 17, 2025).

Today's rise in the IHSG coincides with the one-year anniversary of President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka's administration.

During today's Plenary Cabinet Meeting, Prabowo stated that the positive movement of the IHSG reflects investor optimism towards the government's economic policies.

"The IHSG has grown to 8,000, the highest in the history of our republic, and this was also beyond expectations," Prabowo said, as quoted by Antara (October 20, 2025).

"We have reached the highest level, although I always remind us not to be too afraid of stock prices; what's important is that our economic fundamentals must be strong," Prabowo added.

According to RTI Business data, 510 stocks closed higher today, 183 stocks weakened, and 117 stocks remained stagnant.

The frequency of domestic stock trading today reached 2.36 million transactions. A total of 33.94 billion shares changed hands, with a total transaction value of Rp22.83 trillion.

Based on the IDX-IC Sectoral Index, 9 stock sectors closed higher today. The financial sector led with a gain of 3.38%, followed by the transportation sector which rose 3.10%, and the energy sector which strengthened by 2.76%.

Meanwhile, 2 stock sectors closed lower today. The raw materials sector fell the deepest by 0.77%, followed by the healthcare sector which weakened by 0.16%.

Today's top gainer was TRJA, which strengthened by 27.74%, followed by GZCO and MRAT, both rising 25%, and ASPI, which strengthened by 24.83%.

On the other hand, POLU became the top loser after plummeting 14.99%, followed by PPRI and UANG, each weakening by 14.90%, and HOPE, which plunged 14.87%.

Asian markets generally strengthened today: the Nikkei index rose 3.37% to 49,185.50; the Hang Seng index strengthened 2.42% to 25,858.83; the Shanghai index strengthened 0.63% to 3,863.89; while the Straits Times index fell 0.63% to 4,328.93.
