2024 Year-End: IHSG Closes Higher (Monday, December 30, 2024)

The Jakarta Composite Index (IHSG) strengthened by 0.62% to close at 7,079.90 on Monday (December 30, 2024), marking the last trading day of 2024.

According to Inarno Djajadi, Executive Head of Capital Market Supervision, Derivative Finance, and Carbon Exchange at the Financial Services Authority (OJK), the Indonesian capital market demonstrated resilience over the past year amidst numerous global and domestic challenges.

"Domestically, we have navigated the crucial momentum of the political year, with the successful holding of the presidential, legislative, and simultaneous regional elections, which certainly brought their own dynamics to the stability of the Indonesian economy and capital market," said Inarno at the Inauguration of the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) Trading Closure 2024, as reported by *Katadata*, Monday (December 30, 2024).

Based on the IDX-IC Sectoral Index, 10 out of 11 stock sectors strengthened today. The technology sector led with a 3.01% increase, followed by the consumer staples sector and the industrial sector, which rose by 2.28% and 1.68%, respectively.

Only one sector weakened, the finance sector, which corrected by 0.28%.

According to RTI Business data, domestic stock trading frequency today reached 1 million transactions.

A total of 26.27 billion shares changed hands, with a total transaction value of Rp12.39 trillion.

338 stocks closed higher today, 251 stocks weakened, and 210 stocks were stagnant.

Today's top gainers were WAPO, soaring 34.65%, followed by MMIX and KEJU, which rose by 34.02% and 24.62%, respectively.

On the other hand, VTNY was the top loser after plunging 14.57%, followed by JGLE and KREN, both correcting by 14.29%.

Asian stock exchanges closed mixed this afternoon. The Nikkei Index fell 0.96% to 39,894.54; the Hang Seng Index fell 0.24% to 20,041.42; the Shanghai Index rose 0.21% to 3,407.33; and the Straits Times Index rose 0.64% to 3,795.73.
