In preparation for forming the 2024-2029 government cabinet, President-elect Prabowo Subianto has summoned 108 individuals as potential ministers, deputy ministers, and agency heads.

According to data compiled by the Center of Economics and Law Studies (Celios), the majority, or 55.6%, of the summoned candidates are politicians.

Professionals/technocrats account for 15.7%, military/police personnel for 8.3%, businesspeople for 7.4%, religious figures for 4.6%, and celebrities for 2.8%.

"Unfortunately, only 5.6% are from academia," Celios stated in a press release on Thursday, October 17, 2024.

Of the 60 politician candidates, 45 are affiliated with political parties.

Gerindra party has the most appointees, with 12 individuals (27%). This is followed by Golkar with 11 (24%), and Democrat, PAN, and PKB, each with 4 (9%).

"Cabinet appointments are heavily laden with political quid pro quo, prioritizing key players from the Prabowo-Gibran National Campaign Team (TKN)," Celios stated.

Celios found 30 candidates who were active in the TKN as directors, advisors, chairs, secretaries, treasurers, expert council members, or campaign volunteer coordinators.
