New Record High: IHSG Closes at 7,466 (Monday, August 19, 2024)

The Jakarta Composite Index (IHSG) reached an all-time high at the close of trading on Monday (August 19, 2024), closing up 0.47% to 7,466.83.

According to Pilarmas Investindo Sekuritas, the 2025 State Budget (RAPBN) is the main domestic sentiment driving market players.

"The 2025 RAPBN also indicates that the Indonesian economy continues to grow and demonstrates resilience amidst global uncertainty and increasing risks," said the Pilarmas team, as reported by Katadata.co.id, Monday (August 19, 2024).

Based on the IDX-IC Sectoral Index, eight stock sectors strengthened today. The primary consumer goods sector led with a 3.31% increase, followed by the industrial and basic materials sectors, which rose by 1.18% and 0.66%, respectively.

Three other stock sectors then experienced corrections. The health sector fell the most, by 0.45%, followed by the infrastructure and energy sectors, which fell by 0.44% and 0.06%, respectively.

According to RTI Business data, the frequency of stock trading on the domestic exchange today was 1.06 million transactions.

A total of 15.60 billion shares changed hands, with a total transaction value of Rp 9.28 trillion.

318 stocks closed higher today, 276 stocks weakened, and 207 stocks were stagnant.

Today's top gainers were JMAS, which soared 34.55%, followed by LABA and MSIN, which rose by 24.68% and 19.81%, respectively.

On the other hand, the stock with the code BSBK was the top loser after contracting 4.48%, followed by LPKR and TOSK, which fell by 3.90% and 3.77%, respectively.

In line with the strengthening IHSG, almost all Asian stock exchanges closed in the green. The Hang Seng Index strengthened by 0.80% to 17,569.57, the Shanghai Index strengthened by 0.49% to 2,893.66, the Straits Times Index strengthened by 0.49% to 2,893.66, while the Nikkei Index weakened by 1.77% to 37,388.60.
