The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) recorded that the majority, or 82.78%, of Indonesian households used LPG gas for cooking in 2021. This percentage is the highest compared to the use of other fuels.
The percentage of Indonesian households using LPG gas for cooking is higher in urban areas than in rural areas. A total of 88.93% of households in urban areas used LPG gas for cooking, while in rural areas, the figure was 74.68%.
The province with the highest percentage of households using LPG gas for cooking is South Sumatra, at 92.40%. The lowest percentage was in East Nusa Tenggara, at only 1.40%. This is because the majority, or 69.28%, of households in that province use firewood for cooking.
11.76% of Indonesian households use firewood for cooking. Furthermore, 2.78% of Indonesian households use kerosene for cooking.
0.76% of Indonesian households use electricity for cooking. Meanwhile, 0.58% use city gas/biogas for cooking.
0.08% of Indonesian households use briquettes/charcoal for cooking. Finally, 0.03% of Indonesian households use other fuels. 1.23% of Indonesian households do not cook at home.
