September 2022, Poverty Line in West Kalimantan Rp. 421,140 per Capita per Month

The per capita food poverty line in West Kalimantan province was Rp. 421,140 per capita per month in 2022. This figure is up by Rp. 23,578 compared to the previous semester's data, which was recorded at Rp. 397,560 per capita per month.

The poverty line in West Kalimantan in September experienced a significant increase compared to the lowest growth in September 2020, which was 0.5 percent. This year, the poverty line in West Kalimantan grew by 5.93 percent.

Looking back, the average increase in the poverty line in this province over the past three years was 3.18 percent. This figure is lower than the average for the previous three years (2016-2019), which was 3.45 percent.

The Poverty Line (PL) reflects the minimum rupiah expenditure needed by a person to meet their basic needs for a month, including both food and non-food needs.

The poverty line consists of two components. The food poverty line is the minimum expenditure for food needs, equivalent to 2100 kilocalories per capita per day. The non-food poverty line is the minimum expenditure for non-food needs such as housing, clothing, education, and health.

As stated in the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) report, the highest semi-annual growth of the poverty line in this province in seven years was 5.93 percent, and the lowest was 0.5 percent, with a downward trend in the poverty line. This year's poverty line growth still shows a higher figure than before the Covid-19 pandemic.

Based on the island, out of a total of five provinces in Kalimantan, West Kalimantan's poverty line is ranked fourth. This year, growth in this province was lower than the national average.
