Electric car company, Tesla Inc., set a record for electric vehicle deliveries in Q1 2022. The company founded by Elon Musk delivered 310,048 electric vehicles in the first three months of the year.
This figure surged approximately 68% compared to the same period the previous year. In Q1 2021, Tesla delivered 184,800 electric vehicles. The number also exceeded Wall Street estimates, which stood at 308,836 units, according to a Refinitiv report.
Specifically, Tesla reported sales of 295,324 Model 3 and Model Y vehicles. The company also delivered 14,724 Model S and Model X premium SUVs.
However, Tesla's strong sales weren't mirrored in production. Tesla's electric vehicle production in Q1 of this year was 305,407 vehicles, a slight decrease from the previous quarter's 305,840 units.
Production at Elon Musk's company decreased due to supply chain disruptions and the suspension of its factory in China. "This was an extraordinarily difficult quarter, due to supply chain disruptions and the China Zero Covid policy," Tesla CEO Elon Musk tweeted on Sunday (April 3rd).
