The average per capita monthly expenditure for food and non-food items in South Sumatra province was Rp. 1.15 million in 2022. This figure is up Rp. 52,405.20 compared to the previous year's figure of Rp. 1.1 million.
Average expenditure in South Sumatra in December this year saw a significant increase compared to the lowest growth recorded in December 2019, which was 1.16 percent. This year, the average expenditure in South Sumatra grew by 4.78 percent.
Looking back, the average increase in average expenditure over the past three years was 4.37 percent. This figure is lower than the average for the previous three years (2016-2019), which stood at 9.94 percent.
As stated in the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) report, the highest average expenditure growth in the province over nine years was 14.8 percent and the lowest was 1.16 percent, with a downward trend in average expenditure. This year's average expenditure growth still recorded a higher figure than before the Covid-19 pandemic.
Based on the island, out of a total of 10 provinces in Sumatra, South Sumatra's average expenditure ranks ninth. However, compared to the national average, growth in this province is higher.
