The Jakarta Composite Index (IHSG) closed down 25.6 points or 0.35% to 7,302.44 on Monday (18/3/2024), amidst a market awaiting the results of the 2024 General Election.

Based on the IDX-IC Sectoral Index, six sectors increased, led by the technology sector, which rose by 1.14%, followed by the basic materials and consumer staples sectors, which rose by 0.68% and 0.43%, respectively.

Meanwhile, five sectors experienced corrections. The non-primary consumer goods sector fell the most, by 0.45%, followed by the transportation & logistics and energy sectors, which fell by 0.44% and 0.3%, respectively.

According to RTI Business data, the frequency of stock trading on the domestic exchange today was 1.19 million transactions.

A total of 17.85 billion shares changed hands, with a transaction value of Rp9.67 trillion.

The issuer with the code IOTF was today's top loser, plunging 26.85%, followed by KICI and DGNS, which fell by 24.77% and 13.33%, respectively.

On the other hand, today's top gainer was GTRA, which surged 34.88%, followed by GPSO and JARR, which rose by 31.03% and 24.71%, respectively.

A total of 266 stocks closed higher today, while 256 stocks weakened and 252 stocks remained stagnant.

Meanwhile, regional Asian stock exchanges closed higher this afternoon. The Nikkei index rose 1,032.79 points or 2.67% to 39,740.39, the Hang Seng index rose 16.22 points or 0.10% to 16,737.11, the Shanghai index rose 30.29 points or 0.99% to 3,084.92, and the Straits Times index fell 2.19 points or 0.07% to 3,170.76.
