Throughout 2022, the average value of stock transactions on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) reached Rp14.8 trillion per day. This is recorded in the *Indonesia Financial System Statistics* (SSKI) report released by Bank Indonesia (BI) at the end of January 2023.

According to the report, the average daily value of stock transactions on the IDX in 2022 increased by approximately 10% compared to 2021. Compared to 2015, the average value has even increased by 157%, setting a new record high, as shown in the graph.

As of January 2023, more than half of the capital market investors in Indonesia are male (63%), while the female proportion is smaller (37%).

Most investors are private employees, civil servants, and teachers (32%), students (27%), entrepreneurs (14%), and housewives (6%).

The majority of investors are located on Java Island (69%) and Sumatra (16%), with a small remaining percentage (15%) spread across other islands.

Throughout 2022, 59 companies conducted initial public offerings (IPOs) on the IDX. In total, by the end of last year, there were more than 800 issuers on the IDX, a drastic increase compared to 2017, when there were only around 500.
