IDHSI Edges Upward, Transportation Sector Leads (Friday, September 29, 2023)

The Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) edged up 0.03% to close at 6,939.89 on Friday (29/9/2023).

Today's index increase was driven, in part, by shares in the transportation sector, including GIAA, which rose 4.55%, and BIRD, which rose 3.96%.

Based on the IDX-IC Sectoral Index, seven sectors strengthened today, led by the transportation and logistics sector, which rose 1.41%, followed by the financial sector, which rose 0.83%, and the technology sector, which rose 0.61%.

Meanwhile, three stock sectors weakened. The basic materials sector fell the most, down 1.13%, followed by the health sector, down 0.57%, and the energy sector, down 0.83%.

According to RTI Business data, the frequency of stock trading on the domestic exchange today totaled 1.06 million transactions.

A total of 21.55 billion shares changed hands, with a transaction value of Rp 11.10 trillion.

TRUS was the top gainer, strengthening by 24.52%, followed by GEMA and DOOH, which strengthened by 24.03% and 23.00%, respectively.

Meanwhile, the top loser today was MKNT, which weakened by 33.33%, followed by AKPI and WIDI, which contracted by 14.97% and 9.90%, respectively.

The majority of stocks closed higher today. Specifically, 269 stocks rose, 265 stocks fell, and 215 stocks were unchanged.

Regional Asian stock exchanges showed varied movement this afternoon. The Nikkei index fell 0.05% to 31,857.60, the Hang Seng index rose 2.51% to 17,809.66, the Shanghai index was unchanged at 3,110.89, while the Straits Times index rose 0.32% to 3,217.89.
