The Fishing Industry in Natuna Remains Undeveloped

The Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (KKP), in its report entitled "Recommendations for the Development of Capture Fisheries in and around Natuna," states that the fishing industry in Natuna Regency is underdeveloped. The fishing industry in this area mostly consists of household or small-scale fisheries processing businesses.

In 2016, there were only four types of fishing industries in Natuna, with an average of four employees per industry. The industry with the most employees had only 22 workers, while the smallest had only two. Fish crackers/atom were the most numerous fish processing industry, with 55 units. This industry is spread across Bunguran Barat, Bunguran Selatan, Bunguran Tengah, Bunguran Timur, Bunguran Timur Laut, and Bunguran Utara. It is also found in Midai, Pulau Laut, and Pulau Tiga.

Salted fish processing is only found in Bunguran Tengah, with one industry, while fermented anchovy processing is found in Bunguran Selatan with six industries. Meanwhile, smoked fish processing is found in Bunguran Timur and Bunguran Selatan, with one industry each.
