Highest Sales of Layang Fish at Central Java Fish Auctions in 2020

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) recorded that the production of marine fisheries in Central Java sold at traditional fish markets (TPI) weighed 214,540 tons in 2020. This figure increased by 17.64% compared to the previous year, which reached 182,360 tons.

The most sold type of fish in Central Java's TPIs last year was scad, at 38,440 tons. This figure is equivalent to 17.91% of the total fish production sold in Central Java's TPIs.

In second place is ikan peperek with a production reaching 11,310 tons (5.27%). The production of ikan tembang and ikan ekor kuning sold in Central Java's TPIs were 9,550 tons (4.45%) and 8,020 tons (3.74%) respectively.

Furthermore, the production of ikan swanggi/mata besar sold in Central Java's TPIs reached 7,640 tons (3.56%). Meanwhile, the production of ikan teri and ikan cakalang sold in the province's TPIs were 7,510 tons (3.5%) and 6,970 tons (3.2%) respectively.

Based on its coastal area, the most sold fish in TPIs in the southern coast of Central Java is layur, at 1,770 tons. For the northern coast of Central Java, the most sold fish in TPIs is scad, at 38,440 tons.
