East Kalimantan's Marine Capture Fisheries Production Reached 116,800 Tons in 2020

Marine capture fisheries are a significant industry for Indonesian people. The Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) recorded marine capture fisheries production in East Kalimantan at 116,800 tons in 2020.

Based on region, Kutai Kartanegara Regency was the largest producer of marine capture fisheries in East Kalimantan, reaching 45,800 tons. Bontang Regency ranked second with marine capture fisheries production of 18,300 tons.

The next largest marine capture fisheries production areas were Berau Regency at 17,200 tons, followed by Samarinda City at 13,700 tons, and Penajam Paser Utara Regency at 6,600 tons.

In terms of fisheries commodities, the largest producer of skipjack tuna in East Kalimantan was Bontang Regency, reaching 1,160 tons. Bontang Regency was also the largest producer of scad and tuna, with 3,900 tons and 641 tons respectively. Meanwhile, the largest shrimp producer in East Kalimantan was Kutai Kartanegara Regency, reaching 18,300 tons.

The value of East Kalimantan's marine capture fisheries production was recorded at Rp 4.9 billion in 2020. Kutai Kartanegara Regency had the highest value of marine capture fisheries production in East Kalimantan, reaching Rp 2.3 billion.
