According to a Deloitte survey, these types of companies allocate a larger portion of their managed funds to developed countries.

In the third and fourth quarters of 2023, Deloitte surveyed 354 family offices from around the world.

Combined, these samples held a total of US$708 billion in assets under management, or approximately Rp11.611 trillion (assuming an exchange rate of Rp16,400 per US$).

The majority, or 19%, of these assets under management were invested in the stock exchanges or capital markets of developed countries.

Significant investments were also made in private equity (17%), real estate (16%), developed country bonds (11%), and private equity funds (10%).

Meanwhile, family office assets under management invested in the stock exchanges and bonds of developing countries were smaller, with a proportion below 10%, as shown in the graph.

The Indonesian government is now planning to establish a family office center in Bali.

"We are encouraging Bali to become a hub for family offices, like Hong Kong and Singapore," said Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan on Saturday (May 18, 2024).

Luhut stated that the Indonesian government plans to grant tax exemptions to family offices that deposit money or invest in Indonesia.

The plan is that these "wealthy family offices" will only be taxed if their investments involve job creation.
