Bank Deposits Exceeding Rp 5 Billion Reach Rp 7,000 Trillion

The Indonesian Deposit Insurance Corporation (LPS) recorded total bank deposits of Rp 7,126 trillion (approximately US$488 billion) in August 2021. This figure represents an 8.6% year-on-year (YoY) increase and a 1.2% month-on-month (MoM) increase.

Deposits exceeding Rp 5 billion reached Rp 3,576 trillion last month. This segment showed the highest YoY growth among all tiers, at 12.2%, contributing 50.2% to total bank deposits.

Deposits between Rp 2 billion and Rp 5 billion grew by 4.2% YoY to Rp 603 trillion in August 2021, accounting for 6.6% of total bank deposits.

Deposits between Rp 1 billion and Rp 2 billion grew by 4.7% YoY to Rp 470 trillion, also representing 6.6% of total bank deposits.

Deposits between Rp 500 million and Rp 1 billion increased by 4.8% to Rp 534 trillion in August 2021, contributing 7.5% to the total.

Deposits between Rp 200 million and Rp 500 million saw a 5.7% YoY increase, reaching Rp 618 trillion and accounting for 8.7% of total bank deposits.

Deposits between Rp 100 million and Rp 200 million grew by 7.2% YoY to Rp 388 trillion, representing 5.4% of total bank deposits.

Finally, deposits below Rp 100 million increased by 4.9% YoY to Rp 938 trillion, contributing 13.2% to the total.
