Record High: One Million More Stock Investors by August 2021

The COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic did not dampen public interest in stock investment. This is evident from the continuously increasing number of stock investors each month.

In fact, the number of stock investors increased by 1 million single investor identification (SID) numbers from January to August 2021. This increase is double the number recorded throughout last year, which was 590,658 SID numbers.

Thus, the total number of stock investors in Indonesia reached 2,697,832 SID numbers by last month. This number increased by 59.13% compared to the end of December 2020, which was 1,695,268 investors.

The number of new investors in the capital market also increased by 2,219,712 SID numbers in the first eight months of this year. As a result, the total number of capital market investors reached 6,100,525 by last month.

Furthermore, investor activity also increased in August 2021. The average number of active investors per day was 198,858 SID numbers, double the previous 94,704 SID numbers. The average number of active investors per month increased 2.2 times from 293,886 SID numbers to 641,442 SID numbers.
