According to a Bank Indonesia (BI) survey conducted in April 2022, consumer expectations regarding their income over the next six months weakened.

This is reflected in the Income Expectation Index, which fell to 131.5 in April 2022, the lowest since the beginning of the year, as shown in the graph.

A breakdown by expenditure group shows that the decline in the expectation index was most significant among consumers with expenditures of Rp4.1 million to Rp5 million, falling from 141.4 to 132.2 in April 2022.

Conversely, consumers with expenditures of Rp3.1 million to Rp4 million saw their expectations strengthen from 132.8 to 133.5 in April 2022.

Nevertheless, overall consumer income expectations remain in the optimistic zone with an index above 100.
