Electronic Money Transaction Value Reached Rp 24.75 Trillion in August 2021

Bank Indonesia (BI) recorded electronic money transactions worth Rp 24.75 trillion in August 2021. This figure represents a 2.56% decrease compared to the previous month, which reached Rp 25.4 trillion.

However, the value of electronic money transactions last month increased by 43.64% compared to the same period the previous year. In August 2020, the value of electronic money transactions reached Rp 17.23 trillion.

Meanwhile, the volume of electronic money transactions reached 439 million in August 2021. This figure increased by 5.72% compared to July 2021, which reached 415.3 million transactions.

The figure also increased by 13.52% compared to August 2020. At that time, the volume of electronic money transactions was recorded at 386.7 million.

Since the Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic, electronic money has been increasingly used by the public. This is because this type of transaction is considered safer from coronavirus transmission due to minimal direct contact.

In addition, transactions via electronic money are also considered more practical and efficient. Another factor driving the increased use of electronic money is the abundance of price promotions and discounts offered.
