MSMEs Received the Most Credit Restructuring Assistance

The Indonesian government provided various forms of assistance to Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to mitigate the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. A Mandiri Institute survey revealed that 59% of respondents registered for and accessed this assistance.

The most common type of assistance received by respondents was credit restructuring (34%). Furthermore, 24% of respondents received direct cash assistance (BLT), and 19% received interest subsidies.

A smaller percentage of respondents also accessed several assistance programs. For example, 9% received assistance related to guarantees, 8% related to taxes, and 6% related to utilities.

Meanwhile, 84.8% of respondents had resumed normal operations by the beginning of the second quarter of 2021. This percentage increased from the previous year, which stood at only 35.2%. However, some respondents were still operating on a limited basis (8.1%), while others had not yet resumed operations (7.1%).

Mandiri Institute conducted this online survey of 505 Indonesian MSMEs. The survey, conducted in March-April 2021, aimed to assess MSME recovery and digital penetration.
