According to a Populix survey, Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI) is the most widely used Islamic bank in Indonesia. 51% of respondents admitted to using its services.
"The commonly used Islamic bank is BSI, while the most common financial product they use is a syariah savings account, as it aligns with sharia principles," stated the Populix research team in their report, *Insight and Customer Perspective of Halal Industry in Indonesia*.
Next is BCA Syariah, used by 22% of respondents, followed by Aladin Syariah (10%), and Bank Muamalat (9%).
Meanwhile, fewer respondents used other Islamic banks such as BTN Syariah, CIMB Niaga Syariah, Bank Mega Syariah, and OCBC NISP Syariah, as shown in the graph above.
The Populix survey also found that the most widely used Islamic bank product among respondents was syariah savings accounts (73%), followed by Hajj savings accounts (19%), syariah deposits (15%), syariah loans (11%), syariah mortgages (KPR) (9%), syariah current accounts (giro) (8%), and syariah pawnshops (5%).
This survey was conducted via the Populix application in March 2023, involving 1,014 Muslim respondents across Indonesia. The majority of respondents were employed individuals with middle-class economic status.
